Professional reconversion is often perceived as a colossal challenge, a risky adventure, but also as a chance to redefine one’s career path. After seven years in auditing and management control, I decided to enter the world of Salesforce, and more specifically the world of Revenue Cloud. A little over a year after this turning point, it’s time to take stock of this bold transition.

Auditing and controlling offered me many opportunities. I developed solid analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of financial processes. But after discovering the Salesforce ecosystem through an internal CPQ/Billing integration project, I wanted to move into this field of activity. Not only did I want to acquire new technical skills, I also wanted to play an active part in the digital transformation of companies.

Training: a decisive step

Once you’ve decided that you want to move into the Salesforce ecosystem, the natural choice is to get the right training before joining a new company. This training enables you to familiarize yourself with the Salesforce environment, the different clouds and prepare for your first Salesforce certifications.

But as I didn’t choose the traditional route, I jumped straight into the deep end and joined 2PACE as a Revenue Cloud consultant. Good or bad idea?

The challenge was daunting. Moving from an environment focused on numbers and financial analysis to a world of software and customer relationship management required a significant adjustment. But the motivation was strong, and the opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-growing company only increased it.

The first few months: intensive learning

When I landed a job as a Salesforce consultant, I realized that the real learning curve had only just begun. Every project was a new challenge, every customer had unique needs. I was immersed in Salesforce customization, project management and user training.

This first contact with the professional world of Salesforce was both gratifying and intimidating. I had to adapt quickly to the tools and working methods, while continuing to develop my technical skills. Thanks to the support of my more experienced colleagues and a culture of mutual support within the team, I was able to overcome these obstacles.

One year on

Today, a year after the start of my reconversion, I’m taking a moment to review the experience. Here are the main lessons I’ve learned:

1. A renewed passion for work

Working with Salesforce has allowed me to rediscover the pleasure of learning and innovating. Every day, I discover new functionalities, new approaches and creative solutions to customer problems. My work is now more dynamic and varied, which contributes to my job satisfaction.

2. The value of previous experience is not insignificant.

My background in auditing and management control proved to be a valuable asset. Despite my lack of technical skills when I started out, my data analysis skills and understanding of business processes have enabled me to bring a unique perspective to projects very quickly. As a result, I’m able to dialogue effectively with customers on their strategic issues, and share these points of attention with my colleagues with more technical profiles.

3. The importance of continuing education

The Salesforce ecosystem is evolving rapidly, and it’s essential to keep up to date with new features and trends such as AI with the development of Agent Force or the arrival of Revenue Cloud Advanced (RCA), Salesforce’s new solution for revenue lifecycle management. Working in this field means engaging in a continuous learning process, taking advanced training courses and obtaining new certifications. This enables me to gain market recognition for what I’ve learned, and to meet customers’ growing expectations.

4. Encouraging prospects for growth

After a year in the Salesforce world, I’m confident about my prospects for development within this world and within 2PACE. Whether as a consultant, project manager or even trainer, there are plenty of opportunities. I’m already thinking about my next steps, with the idea of specializing further in certain areas and playing an active part in setting up (RCA) with our first customers.

Conclusion

My career change to Salesforce has been an enriching adventure, punctuated by challenges and discoveries. One year on, I feel more fulfilled than ever, with constantly evolving skills and a dynamic professional network. This experience has taught me that passion and a willingness to learn are powerful driving forces behind a successful career change. If you’re considering a similar transition, know that every step you take brings you closer to your goal. Never underestimate your ability to evolve and adapt. The world of work is constantly changing, and it’s never too late to reinvent yourself.
